Those of you who have been actively networking using your LinkedIn profiles – good for you! But I have to ask: Is your LinkedIn profile good enough for you?

Your LinkedIn profile must attract prospective employers’ attention, engage them in your story, and compel them to read further – all in 2000 characters or less. To accomplish this, you can “steal” from your resume, connecting what you’ve done in the past with what you want to do in the future. Add your personality, your passion, and your plan into your message. Describe your relevant achievements and demonstrate your potential value to the prospective employer.

  • Promote an environment encouraging the cooperation of others, using my knowledge of personnel and resource management techniques.

I turned what he wrote into the following:

  • Directed and monitored the activities of an average of 200 police officers, depending on the shift, supervising daily division-wide operations. Led investigations and solved assorted crimes, among them hotel crimes, credit card thefts, and assaults stemming from NYC criminal activities.
  • Coordinated activities, scheduled work assignments, set priorities, and directed employees and inter-agency stakeholders in implementing investigations. Liaised with Hudson County Prosecutors Office and the FBI.
  • Strengthened alliances with outside agencies. Promoted an environment encouraging inter-agency cooperation and collaboration.

Although my client’s statements generally touched upon some relevant keywords that belonged in his resume, I honestly didn’t think a recruiter or prospective employer would be impressed with his version of events. On the other hand, I think my version begins to tell his story, on its way to potentially wowing prospective employers.

Pricing

Prices quoted encompass review of existing documents and comprehensive interview so that unique and customized achievement-oriented documents can be developed for you. Documents, entirely scannable, are prepared in Microsoft Word and are emailed to you. They are easily converted into Rich Text Format or PDF files. Individuals whose resumes require complete overhauls will be quoted and charged a higher fee than individuals with resumes in need of less rewriting.

A Word's Worth will implement changes / corrections, per your instructions at no additional charge for up to 30 days from receipt of drafts.

Prices below encompass resume and email-cover-letter development. If resumes require complete rewrites, pricing will be higher.

  • Newly Indoctrinated Workers:$375
    Students about to graduate from college, recently-graduated students with limited work experience.
  • Middle Management:$375 - $550
    Professionals with supervisory, administrative, project leadership, and/or some management experience.
  • Senior Management, including Educators & Healthcare Professionals:$550 - $750
    Across industry lines, professionals with significant management responsibility, encompassing P&L, staff, fiscal, sales, and / or marketing skills.
  • Executives / Senior Level Executives/ High-Level Educators & Healthcare Professionals:$750 - $875
    Professionals with oversight responsibility for strategic / tactical planning, managerial staffs, operations, production, and ultimately bottom-line profits.
    * Individuals whose resumes need complete overhauls fall into the $750-$875 price range.
  • Add a LinkedIn profile with the purchase of Resume and Email-Cover-Letter: starting @ $300.
