Business owners who ask their employees for honest opinions about their companies’ greatest strengths and weaknesses = engaged workers who are productive and willing to contribute toward companies earning higher profits. Engaged workers also affect increased customer satisfaction and boosts in customer retention. In other words, if employees are happy, business owners are happy too!
One way to learn if employees are engaged in the workplace is for employers to disburse a short, confidential survey. Employees must feel that they can be candid, that their responses will not render employers angry or vengeful, and that their responses will be transparently discussed and acted upon.
I repeat, this is a confidential survey, so authors’ names are not revealed. Rather, they are protected and, optimally, their concerns openly and transparently discussed, then acted upon.
Once employers have addressed employee concerns to the best of their ability, good cheer will emerge. Engaged employers and profitable employers will be on the same page. For employers, it may be a simple act of purchasing and installing a new water cooler for the office. Just think … as employees stand around the proverbial water cooler, their office communications will be focused on the benefits of working for a great company, rather than rehashing the misbehavior of fellow employees at the office holiday party!
